Glen-L 13 Notes

I purchased the hardware kit and have two straps 6" long and two straps 2" long, with a slot cut in them. Which ones are the chain plates and which ones are the covers? How do the shrouds attach to them? How are they attached to each other, or are they? What's it mean when directions tell me to drill extra holes in the plates?
ANS: The block goes against side, butts to bottom of sheer. Butter up with thickened epoxy and wedge in place until glue sets. Chainplates serve a variety of uses and usually only have one hole at each end. Use the bottom one for a screw, drill at least two more for additional screws. The top screw should be into sheer. The 6" chainplate should stick above the deck approx 1". You will need to drill a series of holes or otherwise cut a slot in the deck for the chainplate. The hole is usually not pretty. Slip the slotted chainplate cover over the chainplate to hide the hole. You may want to bend the end of the chainplate slightly toward the centerline of the boat. If you have the Rigging Kit, the shroud adjusters will fasten to the chainplates, the eye of the shroud to approx the center hole of the shroud adjuster. No holes should be drilled in the mast until exact locations are determined by first taping the shounds into position and checking length.
