13 Sep 2004 Here's the squirt that my kids (14 & 11) and I built. It was a big hit at the Port Townsend wooden boat festival in 2004. She'll do 25 knots with a 70 lb kid, and 20 knots with all three of us. Laminated sheers and chines were the key to our project, as the solid stock wouldn't make the turns without breaking. We ended up taking our time with 1/4 inch laminations. This picture is from a Puget Sound Boat parade on Hood Canal where my son wanted to look like an offshore powerboat racer going 80 miles an hour! -Bill Stange Return |
