Sandy says that most of the shots are 37 yrs old!! This Tuffy shot of me and my red yachting outfit. Did I tell you that I brought this entire kit home on a convertable with the top down??? If I didn't, ask me details... I recall all of that this shot was taken in a Wisconsin lake..lake Nokimis, about 300 miles from Chicago land. It was the fastest boat on the lake, if I recall. The West Bend motor had a BRASS prop, something you don't see today on i/o's or outboards. Sandy sewed some seats with real welting!! The addition of a plastic windshild degraded the appearance... but kept the bugs out of your mouth!! The flat bottom would allow one to feel a leaf upon the water at 40. It had no bad faults. The West Bend motor had a habit of shearing the flywheel keyway at top speeds. Once one went out on the Illinois river at dark. To get back to our trailer I took a flat blade screwdriver and wedged it into the slot... broke it off with a rock and continued on our trip!!

My dad was the only one who helped...

Tuffy as you know was covered in that new stuff called fiberglass. It was painted, as coloring for glass resin was not yet availble for the home glasser. The top deck was done in a dark blue metialic with an aluminum toe rail. My dad was the only one who helped... that is until it was completed...then we had a dozen friends to try it out !!!
