Buzzer off Cabrillo Beach, California circa 1938. Elbert gives a ride to a pretty young lady.

Elbert later built this "step" boat designed by a well know designer. It was spruce planked and fiberglassed. This was one of the first fiberglassed boats in Southern California and Elbert had many people make a trip to see it. Fiberglassing a planked boat is really not a good idea and he would have undoubtably had a lot of trouble with it. Although it was a beautiful boat, with a torpedo shape, it was a dog, if not downright dangerous, and Elbert stripped the boat and sold the hull cheap after using it briefly.
