Glen-L Tunnel Mite

I discussed a couple of different paint ideas with Bob before he started and he knew what I wanted, I gave him free reign and walked away. This was the only part during the construction that I was not in control. Here's how it looked after the painting (starboard and port shots)

Bob's attention to detail and wild paint scheme really makes it look fast and is a pleasure to look at.

Here she is rigged and ready for a trial run. My wife is looking on unsure. You'll note the National Guard standing by in the background in case I had trouble. (Actually, they were doing training exercises the day of the launch.)

It floats! I designed the steering arm assembly, fuel tank, trailer bunks, winch post and transom plates using AutoCAD; all parts were powder coated. The steering arm was most challenging because of the changing radii. The trailer is a $25 special that was completely rebuilt.

Here's my nephew "burning up fuel". He loves it, hard to get him out of it! While I installed a stock OMC 15 HP, it deserves a 20-25 HP; performance as-is was close to 25mph with the nephew at the controls.

I am very happy with the way it turned out; it gets lots of looks and questions from people wherever I take it. Many will ask where I bought it and I always respond that it is a Glen-L design that I built using your plans. The blue prints and instructions were fairly easy to follow; I only had a couple questions and after a phone call to Barry, they were quickly answered.

If any of you are thinking about building a boat, do it, the self satisfaction and attention it gets is well worth it.
