Marc & Jean-Sébastien WILDCAT page

(Montréal, Québec, Canada)

Marc and I decided to build Ken Hankinson's Wildcat Sport (24' option). We thought it had all the qualities we were looking for...

  • Easy to dive from
  • Trailable
  • Lots of cockpit space
  • Stable
  • Relatively fast + economical
  • Could be built in plywood by two guys with almost no woodworking experience.

It will be built using:

  • Industrial Formulators epoxies - Glue + Sealer
  • MDO Plywood - For bulkheads (bulkhead frame construction) + planking
    • 4x8 - 3/4" = $68.80 (Canadian $)
    • 4x8 - 1/2" = $49.12 (Canadian $)
  • African Mahogany - For the keels, crossbeams and frame members.
  • Ash (white) - For chines, sheer clamps, cleats, battens, web stiffeners, etc...

We started building or more accurately redrawing from the patterns on March 29th 2004.

May 12th to May 18th

We now mostly use our jigsaw + a 12" disc sander instead of a band saw.

It's precise and quite fast. May 19th - 20th: Completion & Sealer preparation of all Bulkheads + Transom.
May 27th: All Bulkheads + Transom were sealed.

Ash Ripping! May 28th

This is our Marc Bronkalla inspired Band Saw Scarf Sled.
