Two layers of with 3/8 Okume Marine Plywood, Side and Bottom.

Installed final (third) layers Bottom Planking and finished with two layers of Fiberglass for the Hull. The Bow was covered with mild steel casing custom made to the actual Bow Pattern. The mild steel was brush until white, covered with Poxy-Shield two layers for interior and exterior part , then bolted to the inner Bow 4" x 6" Lumber.

The gap inbetween of mild steel and planking was inserted with fillet. Home made fillet was easy to prepare with a combination of Poxy-Shield, #1 Silica Filler, mixed with Microspheres. Finally the mild steel Bow was covered with four layers of Fiberglass.

The mild steel casing stop at nearly straight part of the Skeg.

Right hand side view from the Bow.

Height of the Skeg is 44 inches from the Keel's base. Sufficient clearance for a 34" Pitch bronze propeller and 32" x 28" Rudder Blade. The Boring and Drilling process on Skeg for 2 1/2" diameter SS propeller shaft is a real sweat and endurance. From the tangent marking Sin 7 degrees for a 10' straight hole. During the process, Multispur drill cutting through 2 1/2" Floor Timber and none of the Frames was touched by the Multispur drill (the thing that I worried about).

The whole boring process took 32 days. Much of the time spending on Tools modification, changes one to another to suit the task. The Multispur drill specially made for 3 5/8" diameter with heavy duty steel and Carbide tipped. When the drilling process got to four feet length, the whole tools becoming heavier and shaky. Again modified the Drill Shaft's Rest with proper bearing to ensure the Multispur Drill shaft wouldn't shake and create a new hole.

What next? Waiting Paint from Epifanes Holland, ETA Malaysian Port Sept 19, 2003. Just a sufficient time to ensure the Fiberglass turns solid after 30 days as per requirements by Paint's specification. Hopefully the Monsoon season will coming late this year, moisture in the raining season would spoil the whole painting process.

Will sending more pics after painting process.

Happy Boating,
